Island of Moss

Island of Moss

I was suffering from something I termed as “Compositional Mental Block”. I couldn’t really compose and bring out a strong composition. Even this photo isn’t as strong in terms of composition. I had a really tough time shooting that day.

Anyway, this is done through selective “dodging”. I chose not to use the dodge/burn tool because I want to retain as much details as possible. Basically, I selectively masked the overexposed foreground (yellow moss) into the shot to create a very strong ray of orange shine effect.
